Temari Workshop

Temari ( てまり - "te" means hand, and "mari" means ball ) - is a traditional folk art.

The balls are decorated with intricate embroidery of seasonal flowers, geometric and Japanese traditional patterns.

Temari are highly valued and cherished gifts, symbolizing deep friendship and loyalty, wishing the recipient a brilliant and happy life. It is a perfect “One of a kind” gift for birthday, anniversary, house warming and any special occasion.

Preparing the base of Temari from scratch is time consuming work. Due to limited time at the workshop, the base is already prepared with layers of yarn and thread wrapping and ready to work on the beautiful surface embroidery.

The base and all other materials are included in the workshop fees. Japanese tea will be served during the workshop.

The theme for this workshop is "Flowers with Shitagake-chidori (Descending Herringbone) stitching. This pattern has a lacy look.
