These Terms and Conditions are intended for your safety and ease of use of our services. It is the guests’ responsibility to read all terms and conditions prior to making a booking. By making a booking with us, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions. Ryokan Gojyuan has the right to change or modify all or any part of these terms and conditions at any time.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
We are a small family business and our goal is to protect our guests, their families and our community. We have a mandatory policy of double vaccinations for every booking at Gojyuan including accommodation and packages. If this is not suitable for you, please choose another venue.
As part of the booking procedure, we need to sight the COVID-19 Digital Certificate supplied by the Australian Government within 7 days of making any booking. If we have not received your certificate/s within that time, your payment will be refunded and your booking cancelled. You will not be permitted to enter our premises if this is not supplied prior to your visit. We do not store or retain any personal medical details.
Cancellation Policy
Gift vouchers or gift voucher bookings can not be refunded.
Accommodation
Up to 14 days prior to occupancy, the payment can be transferred to a new booking as long as it is within 12 months of the original reservation. Alternatively, a refund can be given less a 5% cancellation fee.
Within 14 days days prior to occupancy you will be charged an amount equal to the first night's accommodation.
A no-show is deemed a cancellation and will not be refunded.
Hinoki Bath Package
Up to 14 days prior to package date, the payment can be transferred to a new booking as long as it is within 6 months of the original reservation. Alternatively, a refund can be given less a 5% cancellation fee.
Within 14 days days prior to package date, you will be charged the full amount - there will be no refund.
A no-show is deemed a cancellation and will be not be refunded.
Payment Policy
An enquiry, whether it is via email or telephone does not automatically confirm the stay.
Bookings require full payment of the total value of the stay via PayPal or Gift Voucher at the time of the reservation. We do not accept cheques at Ryokan Gojyuan. It is important to read our Cancellation Policy above.
Arrival and Departure
Your room will be ready for you by 3pm on the day of arrival, and check-out time is 10am on the last day of your stay. Late check-out or early check-in is not possible. Please keep us informed as to your arrival time, especially if arriving late.
Babies and Children
Unfortunately, due to the layout of Gojyuan and the proximity of our pond, we are unable to take bookings for babies or children under the age of 16.
Pets
We are sorry that no pets are permitted as we have paper shoji and very old fusuma screens in the guest rooms and our tatami mats are vey easily damaged and stained.
Smoking Policy
For the comfort and safety of all our guests Ryokan Gojyuan is strictly non-smoking. There are smoke detectors in the rooms which will set off alarms for the whole building. You will be asked to leave if you do not abide by this policy, no refund will be given and there will be a $100.00 cleaning fee charged.
Accidental Damage or Missing Property
We understand that accidental breakages do happen. Damage to furnishings and fittings is another matter. Ryokan Gojyuan reserves the right to replace any missing, damaged or soiled items. The person booking the room is deemed to be responsible for their actions and those of any of their party. The guest acknowledges that the charge may be debited from the credit card or charge facility used for payment of the booking.
Excessive Noise
Gojyuan is in a residential area and we and our guests must respect our neighbour's privacy and comfort. We work hard to ensure your stay is quiet and relaxing and hope you keep noise to a minimum.
Cooking Facilities
We do not have any cooking facilities available for the guests to use. Balmain has many cafes and restaurants that provide lunch and dinner.
Guest Property
Ryokan Gojyuan and its staff does not accept liability in respect of any loss or damage to articles brought into our guest house.
Guest’s Visitors
If you wish to have friends or family visit whilst you are staying at Gojyuan, prior arrangements must be made with management. The bath house is available for our guests only.
